We invite you to step into the past! Come see a living portrayal of how people lived before 1840. The event is spread over 325 acres and includes approximately 1000 participants in period clothing and hundreds of historically correct dwellings. Visitors will enjoy a program of music and games and see artisans demonstrating crafts such as flint knapping, broom making, blacksmithing, soap making, weaving and more. There will be vendors for food and primitive merchandise for sale.
This annual event helps provide scholarships to local high school students as well as other educational and learning opportunities for the public.
We will be attending the Holiday Open House at the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park on December 15th 2018 from 5-7. It looks to be a lovely event including a tour of the old farmhouse at twilight, live seasonal music, refreshments, and FREE admission! Contact 352-466-3672 for more information.
We will be at Revolutionary War Field Days in November - it is the signature event at Historic Camden. Hundreds of reenacts from across the country converge to camp, battle, and celebrate over the weekend. We are excited to be attending this event for the very first time!
We’ll be out and about meeting the many colonial craftspeople and of course photographing the re-enactment battle. Mount Harmon is hosting a National Revolutionary War Re-enactment and Colonial Festival featuring nearly 800 re-enactors, colonial craft vendors, and living history activities for the whole family to enjoy. Visit MountHarmon.org for more details .
We’ll be at the 453 years old Founders Day event starting at the Mission Nombre de Dios from 10-1 followed by the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park for the First Thanksgiving reenactment. For more information about this event - go to the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park website.
